ILR salary requirement- PhD level job

Post by ShrutiBlue » Fri Jan 18, 2019 11:02 am

I am on my second Tier 2 visa at the moment and have to apply for ILR.

When I applied for my Tier 2 extension my employer had to increase my salary to the minimum level required for an experienced candidate, which for my PhD level job was £27,000 at the time, according to the codes of practice.

My question now is- the threshold for my job code has increased to £28k. Do I need to be paid this much to be able to apply for ILR (PhD level jobs are exempt from the actual salary threshold for ILR) or will my current salary count as it met the threshold when I extended my Tier 2?

As far as the guide says, you are exempt from the min earnings threshold BUT required to demonstrate that you are earning the appropriate rate for your position

Re: ILR salary requirement- PhD level job -follow up question

My employers have finally agreed to raise my salary according to the current codes of practice starting this month. I am planning to get my payslip/bank statement for March and book an appointment for early April.

I also intend to explain in a cover letter that my salary has been increased to match the current codes of practice, hopefully this is enough to not raise any red flags with the Home Office.

Do I need to ask my employer to update my salary in the SMS before I go for my appointment, even if the appointment might be a day later?

ILR- salary increase update on SMS?

Post by ShrutiBlue » Tue Mar 26, 2019 3:47 pm

I asked my boss to update my salary on SMS but he said he couldn't find anywhere he could do that. Could anyone who's familiar with the SMS tell me anything about this?

Also, as its only a £1000 increase and was done mainly to comply with the latest codes of practice, is the update actually required?
