My Staus

Post by shahgee » Fri Mar 21, 2008 11:43 pm

My details are as follows:-

Date Landed in UK - 07.03.2007

Technolgy - Electrical Engineering

Number of Interviews Attended - 2

Contract or Permanent Job - Presently Contract

Moral of the Story! - Always look for that job which is most wanted in the job market

My advice for people is to come in the field of Power Engineering as there are very few techncal people in electrical engineering. They lack technical people in electrical engineering & espedcially in power engineering. There is lot of money involved.

I KNOW AT LEAST 10 OF MY FRIENDS IN COFEE SHOPS, CLEANING TABLES. THEY ARE FIGHTING FOR THAT JOB WITH EASTERN EUROPIANS WHO GOT A DEFINITE EDGE OVER INDIANS..

@December31, I was under an impression that SAP ABAP and SAP functional guys are like hot selling cakes in the UK job market. But looking at your experience, I have reasons to think the other way round....???

Even I thought SAP ABAP is hot skill, untill I landed here. I know someone in SAP ABAP who tried in vein for 4 months and return back to India.

But don't get discouraged if you are very good at what you do! In India they see SAP ABAP, Here they are very specifc about the areas in ABAP that they need, they are very specific and fussy.

Hi,

As per my analysis, BI is slightly better than SAP ABAP. Submitting your CV to sites like Monster UK and making it searahble will help. I used to apply to every jobsite and agent this posted a job. So, really no preference what so ever.

Date Landed in UK - 23 April

Technolgy - Java/J2EE

Number of Interviews Attended - 7 F2F, 7 telephonic
1 dropped in f2f, 7 telephonic rejected due to some reasons.

Number of offers got: 3 (all permanent)

From my experience, here the interview results will be really weird. u cannot predict the interview result most of the times. I rate myself technically gud and to give u a clue, i was able to grab 3 gud offers(include big companies) in 1 week back in india. But here i found the market and the job search to be little different and weird. I'd suggest u to be really creative in ur search and shud be really confident.

I too go with the same moral.

I think Spring, hibernate, Agile, SOA is in demand here...If you don't have experience then at least try to gain knowledge in these technlogies.
