Approval letters

Post by Chap1122 » Thu May 02, 2019 10:38 pm

Hi lads
The feeling I got from the timeline posts is that approval letters are only sent a month ago before the ceremony,
I thought they send approval letters throughout the year.
Is it true
If it is the case we may wait till July to get approval letters on 2019 timelines.
Please reply

We should see some approval letters by the end of this month, as there’s one ceremony in June.

And yes approval letters are normally sent no more than two months before the next scheduled ceremony. Occasionally there are exceptions but for most people they only get approval letters when it’s near the next ceremony.

It is true that a lot of approval letters are sent in the month immediately before a ceremony. But, if you look at the people who attended the 29 April ceremony just gone, 40% received their approval more than 10 weeks before the ceremony. Based on 35% people who posted here that they attended the ceremony.

If it's a very small ceremony, we might only see one or two posts about approvals here. Chart below based on 119 approvals at time of posting. It will update as data is added.

I was offered to choose between 29 April and 28 June by a senior event coordinator staff in the Department of Justice - I chose 29 April eventually.

It’s a small ceremony with a capacity of 300 as that is the max size for the event hall in WIT.

I don’t work in INIS so I can’t really answer your question. The main purpose of this ceremony is to complete some of the oldest applications (2016-2017) while also catering for people who couldn’t make it to the April ceremony. If your application was submitted in 2018-2019 it is unlikely that you will be included in this one.

Any idea what kind of checks they do on you in second stage of Naturalisation application and also In which stage do they contact the referees?
Thanking you in anticipation.

Can anyone tell me if all applicants would receive a second stage letter? I am in the US, sent application with fees to FBR in Dublin on Aug 10, 2018, got confirmation via email on Aug 23, 2018 that application was received. Nothing since. Just wondering if some do not ever receive a second letter or if all do if anyone knows. Thanks

Second stage letters are for naturalisation applications. You need to ask the question in the FBR thread.

This post has a good explanation of the checks conducted at each stage.

I've not heard of referees actually being contacted. It might only happen in exceptional cases, for example if they have doubts about "good character."

Wow! You’ve really put it some effort going through all the data throughout the years!

Really great to see it pictorially/visually. Thank you!

It's impossible to say with any certainty. The longest time between 2nd stage letter and approval I've seen is 1040 days, and the shortest is 1 day.

The best I can say is that 50% of applications get to approval within 110 days of 2nd stage letter. 71% within 150 days, and 91% within 250 days. This is based on 136 applications recorded on this forum.

Also, don't hold your breath in July - it is usually a very quiet month for approvals.

I'm currently waiting 240 days and counting since notice of second stage.

In straightforward cases, yes, the next letter after second stage is approval. The approval letter asks for payment, usually within a short period of time (e.g. 10 days).
