If you have completed and paid for your application before visa expiry 08/05/19 that is the most important aspect.

You can now book an appointment for the Biometrics at any date after the visa expiry date. It will say online what period you have to book the appointment, it’s a long timeframe so you can book a free appointment by waiting a few weeks.

There is an option to pay extra If you want them to scan documents at the above appointment.

I think it’s best to scan at home as you can double/triple check at your own pace, and upload over various days, as you don’t have to complete in one sitting, whereas at the appointment the scanning person may rush and most likely doesn’t care if they miss a document!

I scanned documents with employers photocopier/scanner, I guess you can upload with mobile however it may result in 100’s of separate scans? Try keep scans to a minimum ie all passport into 1 scan, same for all payslips, all statements, all correspondence etc - this will make it easy for the case worker to review your documents.

Just for information which helps others & OP too. What you mean by 1 scan for all payslips and 1 scan for all passport? For example if there are 6 payslips or 20 pages of passport then how can you scan them in 1 scan?
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

The photocopier/scanner, allowed me to scan each page and when I had scanned 6 payslips (and employer letter) it sends them in one PDF to my email address.

For people who don’t have access to such a machine, they can scan 1 page for each scan but then merge PDF on their PC, there is free software available.

There are also free PDF merger Apps for mobile phone available if someone is taking 20 photos for a passport, and put them into one scan.

Of course you need to be careful the combined scan does not the exceed 6mb limit. Therefore you can reduce quality of scan or change to black & white to keep number of scans to a minimum.

You need to scan old passport if that includes the current visa. You also need to scan the current passport.

Appointment
You need to take applicant passports mentioned above and biometric residence permit.
They will scan passport and return it to you.
They may also ask for the biometric residence permit.
Personally I would also take all the documents you have already scanned, in case they advise something has not scanned properly etc.
They do not keep anything and so you will take everything back home.

After biometrics appointment you don’t need to do anything. This appointment is confirmation the application has been ‘lodged’.

All your uploaded documents and biometric details will be reviewed by Home Office.

You won’t receive any emails.

You will receive a letter in post with the decision in around 8 weeks (5/6 weeks for mine) and the new BRP soon after.

Yes you can still view your uploaded file names if you log in to the site.
