MN1 application for child born in UK

Post by virtual7887 » Tue May 28, 2019 4:48 pm

Hi,

I have applied for registration of my child as British born in UK via the MN1 form.

I have paid, submitted the application and attended the biometrics at sopra steria on 18-March-2019.

It has been over 10 weeks since that date and I am starting to worry about the application, as I did not hear anything about it yet.

Is this normal or unusually late?
Is there a way to get an update via a phone call or email to home office? (as we want to travel soon and we cannot while the application is in progress)

Thanks for help.

It can take up to 6 months. You won't get an update until 6 months is reached or passed.

Why do believe you can't travel?? If the child has a valid visa they are free to travel.

I've applied in Feb last week and still waiting, My Son has a valid visa and an application is in process but I'm going to book the ticket before his current visa expire, so on his return he still has 1 month left on his BRP card, but at that time I'm not sure whether his application has been completed / not. will update the forum. I've been advised in my last post that the Child is free to travel if he has a valid visa even the application is in process.

I applied for my 2 children end of January, still waiting, don’t know what they are checking for uk born kids, where people are getting naturalisation decisions within 2 months.

I remembering reading somewhere that it is not recommended to travel while the registration application is in progress. The reason I remember reading is that the BRP card may be made invalid at anytime during the application process, which means the child may not be able to enter the UK.
For this reason, I believed my child cannot travel. Please advice if my thinking is wrong. I will be infact happy to be proven wrong. :)

Can you provide with a reference to the advice that the child is free to travel please?
Also, please do update if you receive the registration certificate. Thanks.

I have also known several people who applied for registration of child under 18 and got the certificate in 2 months. This is becoming a cause of doubt and anxiety for the delay I am facing.
Please do update if you hear something.

May i ask you one question please?
Did you make separate application for each child ? Or you have used the option add one more applicant in the application?

Applied in Croydon on 24th April and is about 2 months now. Worried as to why some people have got it a lot earlier as this should be fairly straightforward. We got travel plans in another 30 days and my baby doesn't have a visa to return.. Confused.. :( :( :(

My application (baby's) went in on 29/04/19, gave biometrics on the 10th May and still await an update / decision.
Does anyone know how long does it take them in case of a straigforward case? I know six months is their max decision time but surely not everyone gets its bang on 6 month.

Mine is straight forward too. It has been 3.5 months now and haven't heard from them yet.
This wait has been terrible.

That's the worst case scenario Iam worried about. What if it takes more time thst even 3 or 4 Months. I have to comeback to work and so does my wife.. Meaning we would have to leave the 18 month old with grandparents.. Bit harsh.. I called home office and they said they can't discuss if application is not more than 6 months.

Hi All,

Just to let you all know that my child received the letter and certificate of registration 2 days ago...
I took about 3 months and 3 weeks after submitting the biometrics.

It has been a hell of a waiting period. I don't know why it took so long but its done now. Uff.

Thanks every one, I have recieved my Son British certificate yesterday with an approval date was 9 July 2019 when he was in flight to UK, I can Confirm that he entered with his old BRP card yesterday with no issue.
So In short your son can travel even his MN1 application is in process, if he has a valid BRP Card(Visa) on his return.

4months and 20 days approx.

I think you should get in touch with your MP now. Hopefully you will receive decision soon.
I applied my kids registration on 18th March, still no update.

I called home office but they said its not 6 months yet... Funny 😆 only 2 weeks left to complete 6 months period...What i do not understand what are they checking for ..? Why there is huge time difference between applicators..some gets decision in as little as 20 days where as others gets in 4-5 months...!

Will they help after 6 months? What number did you call? I don’t think there are any checks for child under 10 years.
