Now my status bar is going backwards :D
Anira, what does it mean when the progress bar goes backwards? Mine did it too 3 days ago..
It doesn’t mean anything. Just the fact that the processing hasn’t been completed.

I thought it was a nice little sarcastic twist inserted by the IT guy to show how badly things were actually going. During the process, it was one of my favorite moments. :D

Haha to be honest if you call them and explain that you want the passport, they will accommodate it. I called them a week before my scheduled completion date and they got my passport done within the same afternoon. (I needed to travel abroad that weekend but I also mentioned that it wasn’t urgent and I could change the dates if necessary.)

Has anyone applied for first time via the London embassy?

I am pre emptively tempted to book an appointment, pending the arrival of my FBR certificate.

However on the website it keeps referring to 'proof of travel' but then contradicts itself to say during the process of attempting to book an appointment that first time applicants can also attend in person.

Has anyone gone via London? It also appears the fee is 83 euros via London rather than 80 euros directly sending to Cork.

You can only apply in person in London passport office if you are going to travel abroad with your Irish passport in 8 weeks. Otherwise you must use paper applications or passport express (which is not available in London).

Thanks for this, I will opt for passport express and the 15 working day timescale in that case.

In terms of the documents required, the website says 'internet copies will need certifying' for the name and address proofs - bank statement, utility bill, etc

I intend to submit an original council tax bill and go get a bank statement from my local branch. Will these suffice on their own and satisfy this requirement? What did you submit to fulfil this requirement?

You only need them certified if you print them online by yourself. However, if you got your statement from your local branch and it’s not on officially headed paper, you can ask them to put a stamp on it.

Just applied for my first time passport. Did this at the Liverpool post office on Tuesday.

My tracking number isn't coming up with anything on the site.

"The application number entered does not exist in our database. Please enter your passport application number again."

Is this normal? It has been 2 working days now since I sent it.

Does anyone have any update on how application process times are going in July/August? I applied for my baby son's first passport through the Mexican embassy (as Colombia only has an honorary consulate) and I was told 8-10 weeks from when they received the application. It's now been 10 weeks and it still says processing with a week passed the target day. The online chat gentleman says speak to the embassy for information the embassy say it's up to Dublin. He said they couldn't speed up an application. I'm booked to take him home to meet the family in 10 days. Will the Dublin office let his grandparents collect the passport and send it to me in Colombia? I'm normally so much more organised than this but there were issues getting the supporting documents together. Thanks in advance.

My application appeared on the tracker today - applied first time via passport express Liverpool.

At the time of applying and even now, the website has said 15 working days turnaround time.

My tracker is saying 3rd September! Are these estimates accurate? I applied via passport express for the quoted turnaround time -/+ 5 days, but not over 2 weeks more?

Do the estimates change or is this now my date to expect? Also, when complete, does the tracker include a postal tracking number when dispatched?

15 days /3 weeks are the correct average turnaround time.

Applied Liverpool: 30/07/19 + 15 working days = 20/08/2019

Or maybe they work on date it is considered 'received', therefore 06/08/19 + 15 working days = 27/08/19.

Struggling to see where they have come up with 03/09/19. That's not 15 working days.

It starts from 7/8. The current turnaround time is 18 working days as mentioned on DFA:

https://www.dfa.ie/passporttracking/turnaroundtimes/

Add 1 day from there for passport express delivery time. It works out to be 3/9

I am submitting the request now.
I am requested to send (aside from other documents) the Original of Naturalisation Certificate and the original Passport from my country of birth.
I could not find anywhere mentioned if/when they are going to return to me the documents submitted in original.

Could anyone share their experience in regard to this?

I have applied for first time Irish passport and it says I should get it around 26 March. They received all the documents (original naturalisation cert, original passport, copy of Public service card, 2 address proof, identity verification by Garda) from me on 4th March.

It also says Passport Card will follow afterwards, no dates given for passport card.

I did not send a copy of PSC card. I hope that was an option and not mandatory requirement?

Yes, optional. But I heard it speeds up the verification process.

The date that online tracker shows, does it mean that it will be the day they issue your passport from their office or is that the date when you actually receive it ? Thanks.

Please note the estimated issue date is an estimate based on current averages – it is not a service delivery guarantee.
