Spouse - Notice of Marriage - Pros and Cons

Post by balixonline » Mon Jul 08, 2019 7:23 am

Hi,

Recently, my spouse and I were married abroad, (Pakistan to be specific), she was successful in her application and is due to be here shortly.

A good friend of mine suggested that I should register my marriage in the UK as per local laws as this will good for us in terms of future documentation (not necessarily for visa but rather for property, travel etc too).

I wanted to pick your brains as to if it is a good idea to provide notice of marriage to the local council or it is just not worth it?

Thank you'll in advance.

B.

There is no requirement to do this.

You cannot marry someone when you are already married to that person.

Not sure what "local laws" you mean. If you marriage is legal and recognised abroad, it will be legal and recognised here.
