Apply for YMS Tier 5 outside of home country

I am a New Zealander and I have just completed the application process for the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme UK Visa and received an approval. I had a lot of difficulties along the way so I’d like to clarify for anyone else: I did my biometrics and sent my application away from France, I was very nervous because I’d read a lot about how I needed permission to be in the country I was applying from for a minimum of six months but this wasn’t the case! The documents check list does ask you to supply evidence of permission to be in the country you’re applying from but my border crossing stamp into France was accepted just fine:)

That's certainly what the immigration rules say, and the guidance for applicants and for entry clearance officers (ECOs) does not add any concessions to that. So you took a big risk.

That's very good news for you, but it does seem like the ECO made a mistake in your favour here. For other applicants reading this, I would not rely on other ECOs making the same mistake.

There are no grounds to revoke entry clearance if it is purely the ECO's error. On the contrary, case law supports that you are entitled to the leave you were granted.

However if someone used deception or fudged the facts in their application, that could be revoked if they had not yet travelled to the UK. See https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... ance-ecb18
