visa for European countries

Hi I have a residence card . Family member - Eu residence .
Do I need visa to travel European countries ?
My passport is still with homeoffice . Do I need to carry my passport while travelling to EU countries.

You need a passport to travel out of the UK.

Not to EEA member-states.
