FOI Request Fee Question

Post by epoxyglue328 » Sun Aug 18, 2019 7:58 pm

My application's status hasn't changed for one year now even after multiple email inquiries to the board. I'm thinking of making a FOI request. From reading online there is a fee involved.

I have two questions that I couldnt find the answer to.

1.How do I pay this fee and what is the cost?
2.Can I make a FOI request by email or do I have to send a letter to them? Which one is better?

Thank you for any advice!

I suggest you to call on Tuesday and Thursday. Also send written letter for inquery status.
Also ask your TD to send them email.hopefully you will get something from them.

Which TD do I go to? Do I pick one from my local county and ask for an appoitment? I'm not sure how all of this works.

Thanks

I'm assuming you're applying for citizenship of Ireland. Not sure what you mean by the "board"?

In most cases there is no fee for personal records. In my case there was no fee.

I posted my request, and dealt with them by email after that. I think it is possible to request by email.

Read the Department's guidelines here, and there is a link to their request form. You will need to provide identification (e.g. photocopy of passport photo page).

By board I meant the department that deals with citizenships. Thanks for your informative reply!
