Please advise do I need to be in ILR status to be eligible for mortgage loan to be first time buyer in UK

No you don't. However you likely won't get the best deal on a mortgage with a time limited visa, if you can get a mortgage.

You can have a mortgage on Tier 2 but limited lender options
