Hi YYZ

Which country did you send your application from and did you send to an embassy or (direct route) to The FBR section in Ballbriggan, Co. Dublin Ireland?

Depending on the route of sending your application it will give you a rough estimate of waiting times comparing everyone's experiences.

Embassies processing times can faster if in a low applicant country against countries which have a high applicant rate which have a slower processing rate.

Can you and SonicBoom please let me know the dates of addition to the FBR as printed on the certificate, once you get your hands on them? Thanks and congratulations to you both.
[/quote]

Here is my timeline:

Application Received: 11 November 2018
Congratulations Email: None
(Emailed to pick up FBR Certificate at Embassy on 30 August 2019)
Date of Entry onto FBR: 25 May 2019

So, that puts the time from application to entry as 6 and a half months, but the time from entry to receiving my certificate as 3 months. This is in line with the +-4 month delay in printing that the Embassy informed me of in May.

I will submit my passport application on Wednesday at the Embassy (was told handing it in and paying at the counter usually speeds up the passport application by 3-4 days, at this point I can't wait an extra minute to get that passport :)

Yeah another application here from me as well for the list! Sent direct to Dublin from the UK on 15th March 2019, and I received email confirmation that they'd received it on 20th March 2019.

It is a great thing to keep this list updated Sulla - thanks for all the work- I have found it reassuring as I know that there are other people in the same position as myself regarding time scales - it does look like the August 2018 applications from London are now moving through - lets hope the momemtum keeps up for others having a long wait.

A small update from me - I've been told I should be in receipt of my certificate 7-10 days from notification (last Friday 30th August) so around two weeks I should have the answer to the date on the certificate.

Applied for my Passport today. I was told that I would be able to track it in about 3 weeks. Being able to track this is so much more reassuring than the unknown waiting of the FBR process.

It usually takes longer to even show up in the tracker. I applied on July 5, waited 4 weeks to

Hi YZZ

The Irish embassy London was holding onto the FBR applications for months in many cases last year before being sent over to Dublin and now all UK & USA applications are sent to Dublin I believe. The FBR section changed building so this caused a back log also

A few members on here have been waiting for a year or more after applying from London and most have received their FBR's now some before this time.

The Embassy website does also say a month before it can be tracked now that I look.
One thing I found reassuring is that the lady who received the application went over all the documents with her supervisor & stuck the verified photos onto the form before I paid. (She did also recognize me from Monday and seemed to assume everything was legit.)

I can't believe it I've finally had contact from the FBR!!

Almost exactly 12 months to the day I applied online (4th Sept 2018) I had a note from the department asking to verify my current address as they are processing my application. No details as yet as to when I'll be added but nice to have some contact after such a long time. Fingers crossed it won't be much longer.

My wait seems to continue for ever.... As you can see from Sulla’s helpful list I received an acknowledgment email on 15 May 2018. In October 2018 I was asked for my mother’s passport copy to be rewitnessed. I then had some email questions about my grandmother’s date of birth. Everything was completed by early December. This was all from Dublin even though I applied via London. Since then no update at all. I have tried email and phone and a couple months ago was told it was active. Even if the follow up delayed the application by 2 months it seems it should have been finalised by now. Has anybody else experienced follow up information and if so how much delay did this cause?

Thanks and congratulations to all those who have been added. Just hope it is me one day soon

I still need to apply for my passport, I am struggling to find someone on the list of occupations who can sign this for me so I think it is going to have to be a notary public again but not had the chance to get there yet and not sure when I can get there. Would like to get this done sooner rather than later.

Some promising news for Sept 2018 applicants, I just received my 'we're ready to confirm your application/please reconfirm your address' email!

I'm a UK applicant and submitted my online application on 29/8/18. I received the confirmation of receipt of docs in Ireland on 13/9/18.

I've never contacted the DFA for an update, figured it would take as long as it takes, so very grateful for all the updates on this board over the last year to fill in the gaps.

Hopefully lots of September 2018 applicants will also receive emails very soon!

Hi Jaxx

I believe most passport & visas are normally head shots with a little of your shoulders say 3/4 or two thirds, just looked at my British passprt photo page on my mobile .If you go to a photo booth it will have the pasport photo option also a face map to guide you or go to a specialised photo shop offering these services sorry if you have done this already .

I submitted my application in Nov 2018.

I’ll be pretty gutted if I have to start my (approximately) twelve month wait from the confirmation email in March 2019, all because of the delay in shifting over London applications to Balbriggan.

That would mean a total sixteen month wait (minimum??) for approval.

And that’s for a straightforward application.

Maybe we should have a competition for the slowest approval?

Thanks Lee, perhaps the photo's will be okay, reluctant to get them redone cause they are so expensive over here (25 euros!!)

Hope you get yours through soon - same for everyone still waiting.

Other thing I have noticed and this is a question for people who have applied for the passport, I have noticed on the website that there are a lot more professions listed who can witness the form/photo's and the application form has a fraction of them listed- embassy suggested notary public.

My photos were also a bit too close in my opinion and I was also worried, however, the consular officer said they were fine. The passport photos do seem to be a bit more zoomed, my South African Passport is pretty much just forehead.

The passport photo situation also annoyed me. In the end, I just had them taken in the photo place advised by the embassy downstairs. Can't go wrong there. I paid 100 RMB for 2 sets (one color and one black and white) which equates to about Euro 12.60. The embassy rejected the black and white set and went with color, despite the DFA website specifying black and white as preferred. After the FBR process I went through, I wasn't even surprised.

In terms of the image and what it shows, it is basically all face with neck visible. Just the very top of the shoulder (where it joins the neck) can be seen along with most of the neckline of the clothing I was wearing. The entire area of the shoulders (i.e. shoulder joints) is not shown.

Hi Mori,

I added your case in as March 2019 due to what seems to be the practice of the FBR section - running the application timeline from the date they confirm receipt. It certainly does not mean that I regard it as correct practice. In fact, I am pretty sure it is completely wrong and the application process should commence on the date of actual receipt at the embassy. It's the difference between the legal situation and current practice. Naturally, I hope you hear something well before the 16 month mark.
