Child Benefit

Post by Saadiii » Wed Sep 04, 2019 12:26 pm

Hello All Gurus,

I just want to check if i can claim child benefit or not.

I have a ILR & my child has british nationality.

But my wife on tier 2 on dependent visa & she needs extensions as well.

My question is if I claim child benefit is that going to effect my wife extensions & future ILR application?

When I go through they asked both parents details on the form so I am bit relectant or scared because my wife could show up taking public benefits in HO DATA.

I thought I can apply just under name & details.

Please if someone clear me on this.

Regards

Sadiii

Yes you can in your name. You do need to out her name in the form where asked.

No effect on her visa.

Put the Child Benefit claim in your name only, but you must put your wife's details because Child Benefit has an income cap for either partner.

Only one person can get Child Benefit for a child.

You must report any change of circumstances to the Child Benefit Office.

You may have to pay a tax charge if your (or your partner’s) individual income is over £50,000.
