Does my wife need English language requirement?

Post by sunshine16 » Tue May 07, 2019 9:48 pm

Dear Moderators and senior Members,

I am British Citizen and we have Two British Citizen kids.
My wife FLR FP visa under partner route was approved for 2.5 years in 2016. Her FLR FP visa is due for renewal this year.
Is English language will be require now for her FLR FP extension under partner route?
My wife did not give any English language proof with her first FLR FP application because it was not required for the flr fp partner route back then. The new online application is not clear about it that is why i am concern. Is English language is mandatory for this application now? Can we apply for her visa extension with out English language? will her visa be refused without English language?

Thank you

I think English language test still won't be needed.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Hello friend

My wife got 2.5 year visa after her appeal was allowed.
They put my wife on 10 year partner route.

I asked one solicitor and at that time he advised me that now your wife don’t need English as she is now on this route.

Rest only seniors can help out and guide and these would help others too.

It says here https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa/knowledge-of-english
If you want to settle permanently in the UK within 5 years
If you took the CEFR A1 when you first applied for your visa, you’ll need to take a CEFR A2 test when you apply to stay after 2.5 years.

If you did not need to do the CEFR A1 when you first applied for your visa but you need to do it now, you’ll need to pass it when you apply to stay after 2.5 years.

I do not know if your wife was exempted but it might be safer to do the English test. It is quite a hassle when your visa is rejected because of a simple English test.

Maybe someone more knowledgeable can provide a more accurate answer to your question.

I agree, but the link you share is about those who's are on spouse visa 5 years route to settlement. My wife is one Flr Fp visa normally called discretionary leave. English language was not required on her first application this is quite confusing and there is no clear guidance regarding this issue. Her visa is different from the spouse visa requirement in the link you mentioned.

Anyway if my wife have to do English test, will it be CEFR A1 or CEFR A2? because it will be her extension application this time.
Thanks

Last mint question before i submit wife flr fp application

Post by sunshine16 » Fri Jan 10, 2020 5:12 pm

I am about to submit my wife flr fp application. As you many know the new online application is not clear about the different categories. At the moment she is on Partner 10 years route. I am British citizen and so are our three kids. I am applying for her visa extension and filled the partner route But it end up on Souse Visa retirements FLR M and there is no partner 10 years category in the online application. so i left it.
Now i filled the Private life application and about to submit. Can anyone please reply am i right to submit my wife flr fp application under private life category.

Please reply if anyone has any knowledge.
Thanks
