Carer Allowance after ILR

Hi,

My wife has need a full time carer for my disabled son but we never applied for carer Allowance as she was waiting for ILR. Now that she has ILR, we want to apply for carer Allowance. When looking at it online, it says that carer Allowance can be backdated by 3 months. My question is that if we can/should apply apply for backdating carer Allowance although that will take us into the dates when my wife did not have ILR.

Advice will be appreciated.

It will only be backdated to the date she got ILR.
