I’ve been told by the HO that they send the certificate by post to the embassy in the respective country. The embassy then sends it to the consulate which will hold your ceremony.

So you are dependant on a) the postal service and b) the embassy

I think I was very lucky as we have very fast postal service in my country and in my culture timelines and quick actions are very high valued. (If I may say so)

Fingers crossed you will receive your invitation soon!

Hi Ballet,
I am progressing into my 9th week from approval of my application , have queried at the beginning of the week with both Citizenship support and Consul in Capetown, but thusfar no response . It is disconcerting that there appears to be very little consistency in timelines and applications seem to go astray.

I keep on trying to be positive.

Wishing you all the best with your passport!!

I am still waiting for my Invite,
I am dealing with a lady at the consulate and have explained that I am desperate to have the ceremony asap as I need to arrange visa's for my children, she seems eager to assist, so hopefully as soon as she receives the certificate will add me to next available ceremony.

I do send her an email weekly just as a precaution.

Hopefully soon.

My wife will be getting her Passport this coming week.

Has there been any progress on your applications? I am waiting for my passport application to be approved. Documents were received and were being processed on 15 October.

Hi Ballet
Congrats! And... Ditto! Mine marked having been sent on 28 Oct. Have your received any specific courier details? I only have what seems to be generic "sent" message and reference to dxdelivery which would not seem to apply outside of UK and ROI.

Hi Rowge

I tried to track using the HMPO reference but that didn’t work. What I read on the DX website was that we will only get a trackable reference directly from DX by text or if a delivery attempt is unsuccessful.

I’m hoping to get mine before the end of this week.

Thanks so much.

I received an sms with DHL reference number today in fact - it seems the parcel is handed from dxdelivery to DHL at Heathrow. Delivery is then within about 24-48 hours of receipt of the DHL reference.

Nearly at the end!

Congratulations! Your timeline was a little shorter than mine. It is such a relief to get to the end.

I wonder whether your ceremony will be similar to mine. I was surprised to not meet anyone who was on this site at my ceremony. It seems we are the last few going through the Romein route on here. I know of three friends who are still gathering their documents so haven’t even started the application yet!

Did your passport get delivered yet? I haven’t received the DHL tracking reference yet. Last night I had a webchat conversation with HMPO and was told that DHL might only have collected the passport yesterday even though I received a text and an email saying that it was printed and sent on Tuesday.

They got rid of the words European Union from the covers of passports back in late March .

Hi Everyone,
I have been advised my certificate will be sent to PTA this week from the Home office.
So about a month after approval.

Does anyone know how long the Diplomatic Post takes to reach SA?

so, have you been told your certificate has been posted on a specific date and received x amount of days/weeks later?

The Consulate lady said she will contact me as soon as it arrives.
Have a great week.

Really? They kept it for a month before sending it?

This won’t help you as I live in a totally different part of the world - they sent mine a day after the approval. The letter said sept 4th and I was told my certificate was sent on sept 5th
I received the invitation to the ceremony on Oct 10th I think. But it went to the embassy first and then to the consulate

Hopefully yours will arrive quickly!

I am beginning to think about all the things I need for my ceremony on Thursday. (Including my outfit 8)
What documents did you take with you? In the Email from the consulate it only says ID or passport. Is that it? I’ve printed their confirmation of the time and date just to be on the safe side. And I will take the approval letter from HO.
But I can’t think of anything else...

Take a photocopy of the biometric page of your passport, too. I was asked for one and I don’t remember reading that I needed it. Luckily I had a spare with me.

Congratulations,
Now you must be truly elated!! :D :D :D
For us South Africans this is really potentially a life changing event.
Personal thanks , your recommendations have really helped in my process and reduced waiting time , - my ceremony is next week, so a passport next month will be a really good Christmas present!

Thank you, I am delighted to have visa free travel available to me. My passport will be going on it’s first trip next week and I can’t wait to use the e-gates in Europe.

I am grateful for this site as it helped me manage my own expectations of the process and timelines; I’m pleased I could give back to someone else on the journey, too.

Good luck on the home stretch and I hope you get your passport before Christmas!
