Hi everyone I have applied for permission under IBC(Zambrano) any idea how long department will take to process application

As you have applied, I take it you have no other permission of stay in the state.

People with already some form of lawful residence can go immediately to the local Garda office and get an upgrade.

Those without will have to apply to the department, and this is taking about 6 months for consideration.

You should insist on a right to work in the meantime.

Yes I don’t have any permission at the moment.
I heard work isn’t allowed while waiting for decision under this route.

I don't think it is legal to work while waiting for a decision. I applied on the 28th of February myself and haven't heard anything from my solicitor nor from the Justice Department. I think it takes from 3 months upwards

The whole point about Zambrano is that its beneficiaries have automatic right to live and work once the qualifying criteria are met. Therefore i do not agree that automatic rights does not exit.

@Obie until the approval its deemed you haven't meet the conditions hence the reason an application have to be made otherwise you can claim full right immediately your child is born without going through the DOJ

Sorry for the late response, only got a reply after 3 months asking for more documents and clarification still waiting to hear from them up till now

yeah i got the letter today though was initially sent last month but i moved address only found out from my solicitors my application was approved and granted
