Marriage certificate attestation

Post by Nomy » Sat Nov 16, 2019 5:40 am

Hi, I just wanted to check that I am married to a guy in Pakistan and now preparing the application for his visa. Just wanted to confirm if the marriage certificate (Nikkah nama) will need to be attested by the ministry of foreign affaires in Pakistan. We have the original Urdu copy with the translation and also the registered Urdu and English copy from local union council. Just a bit confused because been told different things.

Original handwritten Nikkah nama with Union council's issued marriage certificate in both versions (Urdu & English language) will be sufficient for visa purpose without having the need of any attestation/certification from anywhere.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

ignore them. The documents you have been told previously brought success for many.

Hi Nomy

If you are from Mainland Pakistan, a NADRA issued MRC would suffice for UK spouse visa application.

If you are from the Occupied Kashmir Territories (AJK), a NADRA MRC is not obtainable as AJK residents are not considered citizens, therefore you may want to consider obtaining the following documents;

1. Urdu Nikah Nama (issued in green(groom) and red(bride) certificate)
2. Locally drafted English Translation of Nikah Nama (signed & stamped by UC Secretary)
3. Verification of Marriage Registration in English by Union Council on Union Council headed paper, (signed & stamped by the UC Secretary).
4. above documents attested at MoFA in Pakistan.

Regards

Op is applying from Pakistan where union council now issue the marriage certificate on behalf of nadra. That certificate don't need any attestation.
