British Citizenship

Hi

Am filling in online form for my wife's British Citizenship. Most of the form is very easy to complete but need advice what documents needed to prove that my wife has been living in the UK.

We have the following documents addressed to my wife-

1. Letter from Home Office dated 23/11/2018 approving her ILR.
2. Letter from HMRC dated 27/10/2019 regarding her income tax refund
3. P60 for tax year to 5/4/2019
4. Her passport which shows she departed to Thailand on 28/3/16 and returned 13/4/16
5. Joint letter from Local Authority Valuation Board dated 1/4/18

Also have bank statements in joint names.

Any help will be appreciated

If you are British, she could have applied as soon as she got ilr. There was no need to wait 12 months.

1. Not required. She only need her ILR BRP card.

2. Not required.

3. Not required.

4. Passport is mandatory regardless of travel.

5. Not required.

6. Bank statements are not required.

Don't submit unnecessary documents.

She only needs passports, ilr BRP, LIUK, English test, your passport, marriage cert. That's it

Hello,

We are hoping to book at the Glasgow Office of UKCVAS for BRP etc.

I am not keen on uploading my wife's documents myself due to an aged printer and scanner.

Does anybody know the cost if UKCVAS upload our documents and if we book on a Saturday is there a charge,

I went to Glasgow office in September - there was no queue (and there were plenty of free 10 to 4 appointments available practically from next day);
I scanned documents myself in advance though.
But I assume they can do it if you pay for that when book (in September it was £40) - though they will only scan documents which will be listed on the application once you complete it.
Libraries often have printing/scanning service.. and one can buy a cheap printer for less then £40.
I believe after 4pm and Saturday appointments were £100
By the way, they recommend scan in black and white, not colour.

My wife applied for British citizenship on 28th December 2019 and received a letter today saying her application had been approved.

Many thanks to various forum members who helped from FLR, ILR and finally citizenship.

My wife was granted British Citizenship on 17th January 2020 and we contacted the Citizenship Ceremonies Officer to arrange a date for the swear in.The earliest date for this is 25th February 2020.

We have booked a flight to Thailand leaving 26th March 2020 and returning 16th April 2020.
My wife has to return her BRP after the ceremony and I phoned the Passport Office regarding a British Passport for my wife and the process would take over 6 weeks +.

So if my wife has no BRP and no British Passport how would she able to re-enter the UK.

I have emailed the Home Office asking if the swear in ceremony can be postponed until we return on the 16th April 2020 - still awaiting a reply.

Has anybody else been in the same situation.

Passports are currently taking 2 to 3 weeks.

If she doesn't have a British passport or a brp and is a visa national, she won't be able to return.

You could opt and pay extra for a private ceremony if they have one sooner.
