From this forum, I got it that it's not an unusual thing when your employer forgets to renew their license and the employee is not aware of this for some time. I am in the same boat and I am working for 4 months without a valid sponsorship. My employer has only started the process of renewal and I will probably have 7 months gap in my 5 years time requirement. I haven't received a letter of curtailment yet. And I have 2 questions that were not answered here before:
1. Given that I will have to be on my Tier 2 visa for an extra 7 months before I can apply for my ILR, will there be any issues with this gap? Given that this is not an unusual course of events, does Home Office take that this into account?
2. Am I able to travel if I haven't received my letter of curtailment yet?
