EU3 Permanant residency VS EUFAM renewal

Post by mmsa » Wed Dec 18, 2019 12:24 pm

Hi All,

my wife has had an EUFAM visa for 5 years now, we are coming up to the end of the 5 years. I have two options
1. Renew her EUFAM visa
2. Apply for EU3 permanent residence card

What is the difference in the travel rights of both? She has enjoyed the perks of the EUFAM visa for the past few years and Im seriously considering just renewing it if there are more restrictions on the permanent residence card.

Thanks in advance

So the VISA stay the same? I.e have the same rights as EUFAM when we apply for the permanent residency card?

Exactly, I just received my EU3 approval and the letter says stamp 4 EUFAM for 10 years rather than 5

That is what it should say. Did it set out that it is a permanent residence card?

HI

EUfam 4 is 5 years valid and EU3 Permanent Residence Card is 10 years valid and one more option is apply Irish citizenship....myself is a spouse of British who exercise under EU treaty I got EU permanent resident card which is valid for 10 years ,so basically isn’t quite permanent as has to renew every 10 years and Brexit is approaching I got a letter from INIS that if in case of NO DEAL they will have some kind of arrangement to transfer families of British who holding resident card under under EU treaty to domestic one. So not sure what will happen next in future, The best way is apply EU3 now and Irish citizenship.

Private medical insurance and EU3 application

Post by mmsa » Mon Dec 30, 2019 1:30 am

I’m currently applying for my wife’s EU3 after 5 years on the EUFAM visa is due to expire. Me the EU citizen was studying full time and working part time for the first year.

My problem is that on the form they request private medical insurance evidence if studying. I do not have private medical insurance and never have done, I have always paid for my medical fees privately, I have also never had a medical card or similar.

My question is, will they reject my wife’s EU3 application based on the fact that we did not have private medical insurance for the first year when I was studying?

Thanks in advance

Just to confirm I was working part time in a medical professional as well as studying at Uni.

Anyone?

Hi - Can you please share the link where you are reading requirements for Medical Insurance?
I would imagine that non-EU citizen required medical insurance not EU-Citizen. I may be wrong as well hence requesting for the link please.

This is stated on the form itself in the checklist of requirements
