How are people being notified that their BRP has been approved? Is it via email?

It might be a very stupid question, but I am doing the same, so thought someone might advise me here.

Applying for pre-settlement through an EU fam member (no prior BRC), I've submitted my biometrics last week (for which I obvi needed my passport), and I never received any info on whether I actually have to send my passport over for them to do a document check? Anybody knows?

Thank you!

Hi Lisa,

I'm the non-EU family member of an Irish citizen and I didn't have to send my passport in. They check all that at the biometrics appointment along with the fingerprints and photos.

Thank you for your reply!

It’s just very confusing because they do say everywhere that they need to see it. And the lady doing my biometrics told me it didn’t count as an ID check and she had no idea if I needed to send my passport or not. Also, at the beginning of the application you have to say “I will send it over”. But then you don’t..

Anyways, How long did it take them to process your application?

Oh I'm still waiting for my BRC to arrive. I got the COA on 10-12-2019 but no doubt with the general election and the Christmas holidays they've been just ever so slightly behind ::he says with a condescending smirk::

I decided to check the status of my application (which should be fairly straightforward as I relied on the same information as the previous two residence cards) and it says it is still being processed. I followed up with a query regarding my application asking if there was any updated guidance on processing times and if they needed any further information from me. After checking the Settlement Scheme website for an updated processing time, it still claims most applications are decided within 5 working days of receipt of biometrics, but can take up to a month. (The website was updated on 8 January, so yesterday) I fall within the month band for processing because 1) they haven't asked for any further information as of yet and 2) I don't fit any of the other categories for which it could delay a decision. As of today it's been more than 6 weeks since my biometrics, so we'll see what the Home Office say in reply.
