Travelling while waiting for my ILR to be transferred to BRP

Post by MelG » Thu Dec 05, 2019 4:45 pm

Hi,

I recently applied to transfer my ILR to a BRP. I was told that because this is NOT a visa application and simply a transfer to a BRP, I could still travel using my old passport containing my ILR along with my new passport (which I have done countless times before, just not after I applied for the transfer to a BRP). Has anyone been in a similar situation before? Im scared of travelling home now until my BRP arrives, even though it's not technically a visa application. Will I have any issues re-entering the country?

Thank you for your reply, that is certainly a relief! The home office received my application on 25/10.

Has she heard anything back yet? I suppose it's a bit too soon given the Home Office time frames...

Not yet. Looks like will have to wait 4-6 months. Some members are waiting since September and haven't heard yet.
