Spouse Visa Extension - Evidences of living together

Post by singhmohit » Fri Jan 24, 2020 8:07 pm

We are putting together all our documents for my wife’s application for her BRP extension (we are living in the UK and she has been on spouse visa for 2.5 years) and have an important question with regards to the evidences of living together. We understand that we have to show items of correspondence addressed to each of us jointly or in both of our names. The dates of the correspondence should spread evenly and should be from at least 3 different sources.

My question is:

We have lived at 2 different addresses in the last 2 years- does that mean we need to show an equal number of correspondences (both joint and individuals) for each of the addresses or can we show correspondences spread across 2 years including but regardless of the addresses?

For example, which one the below options is required?

Option A
Example of 2 joint and 4 individual items of Correspondence for each one of us:
Joint:
* Council Tax in Jan 2018 (old address)
* Letter from Bank 1 in October 2019 (new address)
Individual:
* Poll cards in May 2018 (old address)
* letter from Bank 2 in July 2018 (old address),
* Letter from Bank 3 in January 2019 (new address),
* NHS letter in December 2019 (new address)
Thus, total Number of Documents = 10.

Option B
Example of 2 joint and 4 individual items of Correspondence for each one of us:
Joint:
* Council Tax (old address)+ (new address)
* Letter from Bank 1 (old address)+(new address)
Individual:
* Poll cards (old address) + (new address),
* letter from Bank 2 (old address)+ (new address),
* Letter from Bank 3 (old address)+(new address),
* NHS letter (old address)+(new address)
Thus, total number of documents= 20

Any help on this would be really grateful!

I mean, does it matter where we have stayed. i.e. do we show the same number of evidence for previous address and then the same number of eveidence for the new address

Number of addresses doesn't matter rather the required number of documents covering the last 2 years matters. As long as cohabitation evidences kept generating with 3-4 months of even gaps regardless of where you have lived will meet the requirement.

Understood - thanks Seagul.

Just to be clear the requirement is for 6 evidence each (or 5 each and 1 joint.. so on).
As long as the 6 evidences each are spread evenly over the period of the last 2 years - it should be good, right?

We have stayed in our previous address for 7 months (Jan-2018 to July-2018) and then 1 year & 5 months in our current address (Aug-2018 to till date); understandably we will have more evidence of new address; so for argument sakes, they won't have a problem if we give 2 evidence of previous address and 4 evidences of current address, right?

They won't.

Just spread them as evenly as possible over the required period, regardless of the address, as you've been advised previously.
