Transit through LHR - Help Please!

Hi there,

I from India, got my confirmation of PR from Canada in November and moving to Canada in 10 days. I have a 23 hr layover in LHR, UK. Can I go into the city before my next flight?

Based on my information, the UK Immigration site says I can.

The page says in the top:

You should apply for a Visitor in Transit visa if you arrive on a flight and will pass through immigration control before you leave the UK.

To go to the city, you need to pass through immigration control. So your plan is not to stay in the transit area of the terminal but to go to the border and seek admission to the UK as a visitor.
