Hi,

i am traveling to Pakistan and my question is do i need re entry visa to come back to Ireland??

Yes, you need one. You can apply for it based on citizenship approval, without irp card

You don't need it if you have your GNB otherwise you should apply .

My apologies - I thought that they meant re entry visa after citizenship approval and sending back the gnib card

NOTE If you are from a visa required country, and have a valid IRP card or GNIB card, you will no longer require a visa to leave and return to Ireland on or after 13 May 2019. You will be able to show your passport and IRP or GNIB card to prove to airlines and immigration officials that you have a right to travel to Ireland. You will be exempt from the requirement to hold a visa.

Don't forget though that any children travelling with you DO need re entry visas though. A lot of people getting caught out that way.
