PBS Dependent Visa - Renew or Switch Visa After my husband got ILR?

Post by pangbo161 » Sat Feb 29, 2020 2:40 pm

Hello

My PBS dependent visa is expiring in late Mar this year, but I wasn't sure if I should renew my current visa or have to switch to another visa type like spouse visa.

Background
1. I got my dependent visa in Oct-18 while my husband held Tier 2.
2. He got ILR in May-19
3. My dependent visa is expiring next month

Also, do I renew my dependent visa in the following page please? Heard that priority service is available which let me get my passport back in days?

https://visas-immigration.service.gov.u ... nt-partner

Cheers! :D

Was your husband granted ILR under the 5 year route or long residence :?:

In which case, you should continue to extend your visa as a PBS Dependant. Switching to FLR(M) would set your immigration clock to zero, putting you on a new 5 year path to settlement (ILR).

Thanks Casa!

Two more questions if you don't mind
1. How many times can I renew dependent visa before I get ILR? My current visa only lasts 1 year and 5 months (from Oct 18 to Mar 20 - the date my husband Tier 2 supposed to expire if he didn't get ILR last year). Now I am going to renew my visa again which is 3 more years. So it will still be 6 months short...

2. Do I renew my PBS dependent visa via the link below?

Many thanks again! :D

1. There is no limit on how many times you can renew. If you are short, you will have to apply for another 3 year extension.

2. Yes.

Hello

I might have done something wrong in the application.

Now I have proceeded to the page about IHS payment. One of the questions there was about my husband's visa expiry date. He already got ILR and his BRP shows the expiry date 31 Dec 2024, so I just inputted the date there. Surprisingly the IHS charge is £2,000.

I thought my PBS visa extension is just 3 years? Shouldn't the charge be £1,200? I think it's probably due to the expiry date of my husband's ILR on his BRP which will only be expired in 2024....

My questions are
1. Should I actually input his visa expiry date as 2023? And then a random month or day e.g. Mar 1st?
2. ILR doesn't seem to allow me to change the info? Would that be ok for me to restart the application by using another email?
3. If I start the new application again with another email, will they ask me whether I have already submitted another application? What should I say?

Many thanks again, much appreciated :)

FYI - I haven't paid that £2000 IHS surcharge and visa renew fee.
