UK Residence permit and marriage

I am a US citizen, I have UK residency, I have come back to the US to live temporarily as my parents aren’t well. If I was to marry another US citizen how would that work with me moving back to the UK?

What UK residnecy exactly do you have??

So a BRP card that states Indefinite Leave to Remain.

You would then need to meet all the requirements to apply for a spouse visa. You need to meet the £18,600pa income requirements and adequate accommodation.

Some foo for thought: please remember that this is indefinite leave to REMAIN. It is invalidated if you move outside the UK for two years.

If you intend to be outside the UK for any great length of time, it might be an idea to consider applying for British citizenship (which would have zero impact on your US citizenship).

This idea amuses me after all the effort the US went to in order to become independent from Great Britain, one can only imagine what the Founding Fathers might think
