Dear all,

Hope you all are good. I am on ILR since January 2020 and Will be applying for Naturalisation next year in due course. I am unemployed currently. Can I apply for universal credit benefit? I had few interviews for jobs but all got cancelled due to this virus. If I am eligible and take this benefit would it harm my naturalisation application next year. I’m on ILR in ten years basis and single.

If you hold ilr you can claim. No effect on citizenship.
