Possible mistake on BRP?

Post by wikki » Thu Apr 02, 2020 10:11 am

Hello, not sure if someone can help me out on this.

I got 5 years refugee leave to remain as stated on the decision letter and I have just received my BRP. However, it goes from 20/03/2020 to 31/12/2024 which doesn't make up to 5 years (3 months short).

And there is also another concern, on my decision letter, it explicitly stated that my leave will end on the 12/03/2025.

Should I be concerned?

31 December 2024 is the date the EU has stated all biometric documents, BRPs and passports, must be updated with more enhanced security features.

You simply renew the card.

Thank you for your quick reply :)

That makes sense and relieves quite a lot of stress.

It'll be bizarre to renew my BRP 3 months before the 5 years leave and then apply for settlement one month before, within those 3 months.

Could I use my decision letter + BRP to apply for settlement one month before the end of my leave (the expiry date on the BRP ) or I must renew it first?

It is your BRP that is proof of your status and right to remain in the UK.

(Don't know if I'm allowed to post links here, and I apologise if I'm not).

In case someone is also in the same situation and wants more information, here is some information from the UK Parliament website: https://www.parliament.uk/business/publ ... 17/180715/
