Hi
When did your friend receive decision letter?

Hi, I emailed on Nationality_Enquiries@homeoffice.gsi. gov.uk but actually received a response from NationalitySupportTeamFMT@homeoffice.gov.uk

Not sure why there are so many different email addresses flying around and even how authentic they are. I would still only trust when a letter from the Home Office lands in my post!

Hi I have just received this email saying a decision on my application was made on 9 March 2020 well before the lockdown, however today is 20 April and I still haven't received my decision letter in the post or email as yet. I have emailed at the suggested email address but want to know if someone else had a similar experience? What can I expect?

Good Morning,

Thank you for your e-mail.

According to our records, the caseworker has made an decision on your application on the 9 March 2020. If you not received it already, you should receive it shortly.

However, if you not received the decision letter, I would advise you to either contact the Helpdesk by phoning them on 0300 123 2253 or send an e-mail the below address with your enquiry:

Nationality_Enquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk

I hope this was of some assistance.

Hi, the email they've mentioned in your email Nationality_Enquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk does not exist ! I had a similar email saying a decision was made on 9th March and on emailing them, it comes back as an invalid email ?

Any clue ?

10 months later finally got my Approval letter!!

Eligibility:5 years refugee status+5 years ILR
Language criteria:UK Degree + Life in the UK
Method of application:Online + New service
Date of application: 12/06/2019
Date on approval letter: 22/05/2020 (finally!!)
Receipt approval letter: 27/05/2020

The wait is stressful believe me I know, do not relent, keep making noise about your application and if needs be involve your MP (This certainly helped in my case!!)

Hey! New here but I have been reading the forum for a while.

My biometrics appointment was on 30th December 2019. I haven't heard anything regarding my application since then. Do you reckon I could email them now or wait two more months until it's officially 6 months?

Hello dear all friends
I have contacted HO on 19-April-2020 to ask for an update
This what their actual reply was

I refer to your e-mail of 19 April 2020, received in our office on 20 April 2020 regarding your application for naturalisation as a British citizen.

Unfortunately there is little that I can add to the previous letter sent to you on 1 November 2019 regarding your application.

Careful consideration has to be given to each application for naturalisation in order to ensure that the statutory requirements are met. The processing of a naturalisation application is not subject to time limits. The Home Office strives to decide applications as quickly as they can.

The progress of these cases is regularly monitored with the agencies carrying out these enquiries on behalf of the Home Office. It is only when the enquiries have been completed that a decision on whether citizenship should be granted can be reached.

As soon as our enquiries are completed, the Home Office will make a decision on your application and contact you immediately.

Yours sincerely,
XXX
Nationality Team

On behalf of the Secretary of State
Date I applied 25-july-2017
Their internal/ external checks are taking much longer to complete 😒

Hello mrafgsharoon

I am really sorry you are experiencing such a long delay. It is not acceptable.

Have you ever thought to arrange an official complaint with the Home Office? Please consider it. You have the rights to do so, if we live in a democratic country. You paid the same price as the other people.

I am happy to assist if needed.

An update email response 17 Aprilon the status of my spouse's BC application:
RE: Case ID 2554**** (case id part for privacy) - 9 months from application update request

Dear ******* (name of applicant for privacy)

Thank you for your correspondence dated 12 April 2020 requesting progress on your application for naturalisation as a British citizen submitted on 23 July 2019.

I can confirm that your application is in the process and that decisions on applications are usually made within six months.

I am sorry if your application is taking longer than usual to be processed. As you may be aware, naturalisation is not an automatic process, and we have to make a number of enquiries to ensure that applicants can satisfy the statutory requirements. Some of these enquiries are carried out by external agencies on our behalf and can sometimes take longer than six months to complete.

The Home Office will endeavour to process applications as quickly as possible but in the current circumstances, applications will take longer than normal to process, including applications for British Citizenship. If you have submitted an application and are concerned about missing a deadline to enrol biometrics, provide additional information or take a citizenship ceremony, please be assured that extra time will be allowed, and applications will be held open during this period. No adverse decisions will be made on applications because of delays caused by Coronavirus.

Please be assured that as soon as we are in a position to reach a decision, you will be notified accordingly.

We can confirm that your address has been updated.

Yours sincerely

A C***** (name of person answering for privacy)
Central Operations
UK Visas & Immigration
They are using Coronavirus as an excuse for further delay after the application has exceeded their 6 month standard (was in place, communicated when my spouse applied), 2 months before Covid-19 impacted the UK... :?

My spouse application timeline:
Eligibility criteria: ILR refugee settlement + ILR: EU Settled status + BC spouse (I know it is rare combo)
Language Criteria: UK university post-graduate degree
Nationality : Non-EU
Method of application: Online + UKVCAS
Date of application: 23/07/2019
Date of acknowledgement: 24/07/2019
Date biometrics enrolled: 26/07/2019 (UKVCAS Croydon + document scanning)
Date on Approval letter: -
Date of receipt of approval: -
Date of receipt of ceremony letter: -
Date of Ceremony: -
Date of Passport Application: -
Date of debit of fees: -
Date Passport received: -

Email response: 01/10/2019 - case created, awaiting allocation to caseworker.
Email response: 17/04/2020 - pending external checks...
Would you suggest we file a written complaint, or contact our MP for a support letter to HO? Would that bear any weight on the decision timing for our case?

Hello there

Hope that you are all keeping safe

Can't all of us settled via refugee routes and waiting more than 6 months ( so much more ) for the outcome of the BC application write a lobbying letter , shared later or something to raise our issue as one voice ? And maybe publicly

What do you think ?

I noticed that yes, majority of refugees are experiencing the delays over 6 months (usually over 10 months according to my review and statistics).

To be honest, I have tried to contact some newspapers and some journalists, but it seems they are not interested in this topic. Unless you know any person who may know some contact internally.

But sure, it is a great idea to draft a collective letter and send to Amnesty International, UNHCR and maybe to 10 Downing Street and to MPs just to make an attention... If anyone thinks, it is a great idea, let's do! I am happy to nominate myself for this... :o

I did the complaint. They also noted and blamed coronavirus that it will take longer... (even thought it was over 6 months submitted...)
Currently waiting for a second review of it...
