Tier 4 student dependent visa application

Post by sneha1594 » Tue Dec 17, 2019 5:50 am

Hello Folks,

I am going for masters in the UK and have already applied for the visa. Hopefully I will get my visa within next 10 days. I want to apply for Tier 4 student dependent for my spouse. We have enough funds in his account and the account is joint with my name as well.

My query is :
1) Can I apply for his dependent visa from home country itself before I take off as we are planning to travel together?
2) What all documents would be required if I apply from home country?
3) As we are applying for visa separately, are there any chances of his rejection? If yes, how to avoid it?

To clarify, they are applying, not you. They can apply anytime they wish, but having not applied to together it is probably best to wait until you have the Tier 4 visa.

There are very many existing topics about this. Or see the guides at

Applying separately has no bearing on a refusal.

Yes, my spouse would be applying after I receive my Tier 4 visa.
So, its not necessary to provide my BRP card details and University enrollment letter for spouse?
Also, Can he apply from India itself with my visa so that we travel together?

Hi,
My experience -
I received my visa and i travelled to the UK as my course was starting in a week. My dependant then applied for the visa after I left India (I couldn't wait in India).
Documents used by dependant -
Own passport
Personal Bank statement
Joint bank statement (we had other bank accounts)
Joint Investment
Marriage certificate
Wedding card
Dependant adhar card (national ID)
Dependant previous Educational cert. (studied from the UK and India)
Accommodation arrangement in the UK (I had a flat rented already)
My visa copy
My biometric copy (collected in the UK)
My cover letter mentioning the documents attached
MY CAS letter
My University enrollment letter confirming my registration

Visa time varies and it can take upto 8 weeks for visa approval sometimes. Your spouse can apply for visa once you receive your visa. If your course is starting soon then you can leave and your dependant can join you later OR your spouse can join you if he receives the visa before your course starts.

None of these things are required, and the application specifically instructs you not to include irrelevant documents. The application produces a summary sheet which lists specifically what evidence is required.
