Travellers from outside EU Coronavirus

Post by wikki » Tue Jun 30, 2020 1:20 pm

Hello.

I'd appreciate some help in figuring out if passengers from outside the EU - mainly the USA - are still required to self-isolate for 14 days or are they even allowed to enter the UK?

I stumbled on this https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... rder-rules but I'm not sure it explicitly states passengers from outside the EU won't self-isolate or something.

Thanks

Read the following link which explains it a bit transparently;

The page you have provided a link to sets out the categories of people who are not required to self-isolate for 14 days. If you do not fall in to one of these groups you must isolate for 14 days after you arrive, irrespective of your nationality/citizenship or point of departure.

Thanks for your contributions.

What about the new EU law valid from today which exempts only 15 countries in the world to enter the EU? Does this apply to the UK as well?

Nothing to do with those requiring Schengen visas though, it is only to do with the travel bans.

Yes but is the travel ban in force and does it apply to the UK?

The UK is still part of the EU until 31st December 2020!

Or to be more accurate and technical, the UK left the EU on 31st January 2020 (which is why the trade talks are happening now; the EU can only hold trade talks with countries outside the EU), but is still subject to EU Law under the terms of the Withdrawal Agreement till the end of this year (the Transition Period).

Today is the last day that the UK can ask for an extension of the Transition Period, according to the Withdrawal Agreement.
