Citizenship absence calculation

Post by playmaker » Wed Jul 08, 2020 2:25 pm

Hi
I'm Gen tier 2 visa holder since 2016 and end of this year will be eligible to apply ILR.
I have a question about Citizenship absence calculation.

To apply Citizenship, we should not be out of UK 450 days in continuous 5 years of completion and 90 days in the year ( 6th year ) which we'll be eligible to apply Citizenship.

So, my question that 450 days and that 90 days, are they going to be calculated separately ?
I meant, i am BRP holder since 2016, so 450 days will be covered bettween 2016 - 2021 and 90 days will be calculated in 2022 separately ?
2022 absences will not be counted on those 450 days, right ?

Regards
Cihan

Citizenship is based on the 5 years immediately preceding the date of application and not 6 years.
So, my question that 450 days and that 90 days, are they going to be calculated separately ?
No more than 450 days in the whole 5 years immediately preceding the date of application and no more than 90 days (part of the 450 too) in the 12 months immediately preceding the date of application.
I meant, i am BRP holder since 2016, so 450 days will be covered bettween 2016 - 2021 and 90 days will be calculated in 2022 separately ?
2022 absences will not be counted on those 450 days, right ?
If you apply for citizenship in 2022, the only relevant period is 2017 to 2022, the 5 years immediately preceding the date of application. Your TOTAL absence in the 5 yeas cannot be more than 450 days and the last 12 months not more than 90 days (still part of the 450 days).
