INIS just launched ONLINE IRP Card Renewal for Students in Dublin

Post by Stanina » Mon Jun 22, 2020 2:43 pm

Some positive news, it looks like new online process for IRP renewals in Dublin for Students. Even if it will be only for students, it will lift off some pressure from INIS IRP office in Dublin.

Online IRP card renewals for everybody in Dublin from 20th of Jul

Post by Stanina » Tue Jul 07, 2020 10:34 am

“Now, all that applicants have to do is complete a form online, upload supporting documents, pay the fee and then submit their passport and current IRP card via registered post. This is much easier and quicker than the previous system, where it could sometimes be difficult to get an appointment.”

Between today and 20 July, the online system will be made available to those with an urgent need to travel and who require an Immigration Residence Permit (IRP) card before they travel. The online system will also remain available to students seeking to renew their registrations.

Did i read this correctly, they are re introducing re-entry visas? i thought that had been abolished in 2019?

My partner’s friend posted a picture that shows she successfully got her renewal approval. She renewed her Stamp 4 based on her Irish citizen partner.

She submitted her online application on 24 June (that’s much earlier than the official announcement!) and got her passport with the new stamp back just now, dated 9 July. There is also a piece of paper saying the IRP card will come separately.

Send an email to that Burgh Quay email address. There seems to be a lot of bugs at the moment.

My partner (de facto spouse of Irish national) has her fee waived when she shouldn't have. We don't know if this would cause her renewal application to be rejected...

Did medical insurance become mandatory recently for Stamp 1 and Stamp 4 renewals? I don't remember I was asked any insurance previously but required document list shows medical insurance

Depends on how you obtained the permission. What is your permission based on?

Hi Littlerr,
I'm currently CSEP holder and hoping to get Stamp 4 support letter within few weeks. Also my spouse is Stamp 1G holder based on my CSEP

Yes you are right. Stamp 1/4 holders based on CSEP do not need medical insurance. I don't think that required document list is carefully thought through when they compiled the list. You can send an email to burghquayregoffice@justice.ie to ask for clarification.

Situations for spouses of CSEP holders are a bit unclear though. If your spouse requires a visa to enter Ireland, INIS website does mention that they will need a medical insurance. However, if your spouse does not require a visa, then I can't find anywhere that says they need to hold medical insurance.

My partner's online IRP renewal application just got approved today.

Application created: 7 July
Passport and IRP sent: 7 July
Received by ISD: 8 July
Application approved: 17 July

There is no communication or update from ISD whatsoever during the process. The only email after we sent the passport is today, which says the application has been processed.
The passport will be returned in 2-3 working days, followed by the new IRP in 5-10 working days.

We didn't have to pay the 300 euro registration fee, which is quite weird. Would be curious to see how long the new permission is valid for.

The application portal was made available to non-students on 7 July for emergency travel purposes.
How did you submit your application on 12 June?

There are a few people who sent the application before 7 July, but only after they talked to ISD and got a confirmation that they could send their application over.

Alright then it’s been only 5 days. Based on our experience, you need to wait for another week or so.
As long as AnPost shows your documents have been delivered, they will be processed eventually.

As I said in my previous posts, they will not give you any update, until your application is approved, which will happen in 5-10 days.

I sent my application on the 20th of July , they received it on the 22nd of July according to an post and I still haven't got my passport back. It's been almost 30 days now. My visa expires in the beggining of September and my job is at risk because of this delay, I hate this f*** system.
