UKVI have not sent certificates out to the councils since mid March, so highly likely that your cert is NOT at the council yet. UKVI have only in the last week started printing and sending them out.

Please also post specific ceremony questions in the topic we already have for this.

All just a bit of advice, check if your council is holding private citizenship ceremonies. Public ceremonies are free and involve large gatherings. You pay extra for a private ceremony but I think it’s worth it to complete the process.

Hi all,

It seems that some councils have resumed citizenship ceremonies in full swing, although with social distancing and face coverings. I had my ceremony on 6th Aug at Ealing council. They followed the complete protocol for the ceremony including guest of honour and photographer. Certificates were also given the same day.

Regards,
K.

It seems like they doing lately decisions extremely quick after having Biometrics. Many approved just within days.

I’m just wondering if those who had self sufficient or student phases in the quality time at some point if those waiting longer in general as they do extra checks with HMRC? Could that be!

And I wonder if here’s anyone giving Biometrics in June/ July and still waiting?

From what I can see they approve people extremely quick now.
Unfortunately I’m one of those waiting.
And the wait is dreadful.

I don’t mean people waiting for it. I mean those at the waiting stage afterwards.

Can someone apply for British passport after getting British citizenship certificate. Before getting your citizenship ceremony. Because of Covid-19 ceremonies aren't happening.

You are not British citizen until you attend your ceremony you can apply after you attend your ceremony and receive your certificate of citizenship

Dear Admin,

I have applied British Naturalisation on the 25th January 2020 and biometric appointment on the 20th February. Application confirmation received on the 21st February. I emailed Further nationality inquiry as six month is over and acknowledgement received and saying reply will be given in 20 working days, This time is also over. Any advise on this whether I wait for them to reply or write to them again. Also, my passport will be expired on 30th September 2020. Thanks,

It looks like that HO has stopped sending email approval.

Last approval reported on this forum was on 25 August.

Has any one received an email confirmation about citizenship application since 26 August?

I’ve seen people posting they are getting approval letters together with invitation for their ceremony.

I think getting emails was just a temporary thing during lockdown. Maybe they got back to sending letters in general.
