How do I edit my email address

Hi, I signed up with an email ID here that I rarely use and now I have been locked out of it. I'd like to edit my email address here to my primary email but I can't seem to be able to do it in user settings. It just asks me to fill my password and then comes back to the same page? Please help.

We can't edit your email address as it would require you to post the details on the public page which is not permitted. You will need to register with a new email and username.

Okay, thanks. I'll see if I can still access the same email address first. If not, I'll make a new account and will request this one to be deactivated.

Forgot to ask in the previous post - since you can't edit my email, can I not do it myself here in user settings?

Also - I have an old post where I have a long detailed bit of information on travel history with dates that I'd like to get redacted. I understand that posts are not removed but is it possible to remove the dates in the post? It's detailed travel history that's quite unique to me.
