Registration of a child born outside UK- USA

Post by Jokesapar » Fri Aug 21, 2020 9:12 am

Hi there,

I want to register my child who was born in USA as a British citizen. At birth, both parent had ILR but parent are now British. Child got his ILR in 2016 and is due to register as a British citizen.

Which form will I use and what section will apply to my child because the guideline is confusing. Thank you.

Thanks Vinny so it's under discretion.

Yes. Similarly, naturalisation is by discretion. Some other applications are by entitlement rather than discretion.
