Can dependent apply for shorter visa than main?

Post by gdenzilg » Sat Sep 05, 2020 11:24 am

I have a challenge as i can not raise the money required for my dependents to apply for a 5 year visa.

The question is, i can afford one year visa right now, and can i apply for a shorter term visa then re-apply when i get enough funds?

I am on a tier 2 5 year general work visa till 2025.

They will get the same length if visa s the main tier 2 visa holder.

Note that IHS fees are increasing in October.

No they do not.

If you don't have the funds, I suggest you wait till you have enough money to pay the fees if you are not planning on bringing your spouse first and children later.

thank you for the swift reply.

I think i will apply for my wife first then raise money for the children for later application.

I wish i could for the mean time apply for my children visitor visas instead, then when i get the money, send them back to apply for the dependent visa.

Thanks once again.

Highly unlikely your children will qualify for a visitor visa if both parents are in the UK with tier 2 and tier 2 dependent visas. What possible reason would they have to leave the UK.

Can your employer not help you with the funds?

It isnt' the visa fee that is the issue really, it is the IHS and for that there is NO waiver for anyone or any type of application.

Employer cannot help with funds as they are in partnership with a credit/loan Provider(separate company), that requires a minimum of 3 years for one to qualify, which i do not have.

But let me try the employer first, no harm in trying.

Thanks for the info about visitor visa for children unlikely to be successful.
PBS dependent visa cannot be made whilst applicant is in the UK on a visitor visa.

I was just looking for ways to reduce the overall total cost for all applications.

Thanks once again.

No.

There isn't a way unfortunately. For a 5 years visa, you have to pay what is asked for.
