Stamp 1A

Post by weinys » Thu Aug 06, 2020 11:43 pm

Hi, I am due to be transferred from Stamp 2 to Stamp 1A, but the appointment hasn't been confirmed yet because of the COVID19 situation.
As my previous insurance was a medicover study & protect insurance (but that's only for students?) so I wana know if medical Insurance is required to register for Stamp 1A? If yes, then would a monthly paid insurance would be okay?

Thanks,

Yes you need medical insurance.
Whether you want to pay a one-off fee every year or by direct debit every month, and the brand of the insurance company, is up to you.

I contacted the Immigration dept and received a response "You do not require private medical insurance to register under Stamp 1 conditions."

I have another question: What happens if you complete your ACCA/CAI qualification before the training contract ends? I read somewhere that Garda has to be updated but what happens to the stamp 1A, does it make me ineligible to work?? Anyone gone through this?

You need to have medical insurance for Stamp 1A. You do not need medical insurance for Stamp 1.
The FAQ document from INIS has specifically added that proof of medical insurance is required when entering the state.
http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/faq-new- ... y-2019.pdf

Your progress is pre-determined with the accounting firm, so there is a very little chance that you will finish early. Normally people have to ask for a 3-6 months’ extension after they are qualified due to all red tapes.

Once you are qualified, your company should use the extension period and apply for CSEP for you. You can work until your stamp expires.

Is medical insurance still necessary if i am not at the "port of entry" as i am in Ireland right now and registering within Ireland?

Re: Stamp 1A

So i was sent back on my IRP appointment by the immigration office in my city stating that i need preapproval from Unit 2 dublin office by a specialised team for 1A before i change my stamp from stamp 2 to stamp 1A???

The immigration officer told me to email Unit2residence however they forwarded my email to Unit 1.
And they have asked me to post the below documents:
"
1. Detailed letter of request - any statement made must be supported by documentary evidence.                                                2. Full academic history in the state.
3. Evidence of finances ie six month bank statements, P60s, payslips.
4. Evidence of private medical insurance.                                        5. Full colour copy of your national passport - all pages including blank pages
 6. Proof of Current Address, e.g. A recently dated Utility Bill of Tenancy agreement
"

Upon inquiring about Detailed letter of request i was answered:

"Please note a Detailed Letter of request is a substantial letter explaining in  detail  the  reasons why you are seeking an extension, why you couldn't renew  your  extension  in the normal way and have been referred to Unit 1.
The letter should also explain your current circumstances in the State, and your  future  intentions in the State, any statement made must be supported by documentary evidence."

This process is taking time and confusing and i am not sure if i am heading in the right direction. Any suggestions regarding above and anyone had experience with applying stamp 1A???

It sounds like the officer thinks that:
- You have not made sufficient progress in your current Stamp 2, or
- You have not shown sufficient evidence on whether your accounting firm is going to sponsor your accounting training;
- Your remaining period of student permission may not allow you to complete your accounting training.

Stamp 2 and Stamp 1A are both study permissions. You cannot switch from one to another unless you have fully completed your study on the previous one.

Have you finished your Stamp 2 course? What is the course? Is it in any way related to accounting? Have you got a full-time offer from a firm confirming that they will enrol you into an accounting course?

Finally, there is a limit of 7 years maximum on student permissions (Stamp 2, 2A, 1A, 1G). If you have spent 5 or 6 years on Stamp 2, the officer will not be satisfied that you would have enough time to graduate from your 1A permission.

Have you finished your Stamp 2 course? Yes i did
What is the course? I qualified Bachelors in Accounting & Finance
Is it in any way related to accounting? Yes it is
Have you got a full-time offer from a firm confirming that they will enrol you into an accounting course? Yes i have a full-time training offer for ACCA.

I think the reason that they have asked me for further documents in Dublin is because I was originally admitted to Year 3 on a 4-year course, but upon arriving the education team in my college decided to transfer me to 4th Year (final year) based upon my previous qualification (I also have written evidence from my College on this). Maybe that's the reason they are doubtful about how can I change my stamp from 2 to 1A without finishing the first one.
