Citizenship Application

Post by luba12 » Wed Sep 23, 2020 10:46 pm

Hello everyone I just got quick question maybe someone can help me my wife is British Citizen she moved to ireland back in 2015 we are about to apply her citizenship my question is we both had applied for medical card last year which got approved on Naturalization Form 8, Section 9.

9.5 Have you received a Social Assistance payment or other State support in the past 3 years?

9.6 : Give details of any social welfare paymment that you are receiving and or have received in the past 3 years and why?

Do we have to Tick Yes and mention that she applied for medical card last year or she hold medical card at the moment
both of us never applied for any social welfare payment we never received any payment she has been self employed and part time employed in last 5 years.

Can someone explain us with similar issue or someone who applied and got approved please help thanks in advance

It’s not about whether you have the card or not. It’s about whether you have used it. Also there are many people who can get a medical card regardless of their income.

https://www.gov.ie/en/service/request-a ... -payments/

You can request for a statement from the website above. That will show you whether she has ever used a benefit or not. You can also include the statement in the application.

Then she most likely will need to mention that in the application.
Anyway, use the website. She would have to put whatever that website tells her in the application.

Covid-19 payments are fine per government FAQ document. See Question 108.
http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Immigrat ... 9-FAQ4.pdf

You should still mention these payments on the form though. Just emphasise that these payments are due to COVID-19.
