I saw many people getting decisions after going f2f apps so decided to do a double submission and got an biometrics app. I also escalated to UKVI on 17/09/20 and the lady was super polite and said she would have someone from the HO look at it. I would definitely recommend trying to call the UKVI a few times as the first time I called they were very unpolite and useless and told me that I had to wait indefinitely. Also, if you can spare the price of the f2f app, just go for it.
This forum has been so useful, and it's actually what pushed me into trying both things I did which made my application quicker, so thank you everyone for your feedback!
