My daughter nationality

Post by achrafmeltof » Tue Oct 06, 2020 3:43 pm

Hi All,
My daughter was born to an EEA wife and a non-EEA husband, my wife got indefinite leave to remain and been living in the uk for about 8 years and i have a pre-settled status in the UK, can I apply for a British passport for my daughter? and if yes does that help me apply for it as well, I have been living in the UK for 4 years and i got an EEA family Resident card.
Thanks for your help

Where was the child born??

And no, it doesn't help you at all. You need ilr/settled status for 12 months before you can apply for citizenship if you are not married to a British citizen.

The child can be registered on form MN1 once either parent has ilr or settled status. Once she is approved and registered as British, only then can the child apply for a British passport.

It doesn't help you or give you a shortcut route.
