Has it still not been dispatched? That is so bizarre. You should have it now for sure. So frustrating.

It would appear my journey is at an end. My passport arrived today.

Application submitted online: 26 June 2019
Email acknowledging receipt of documentation Balbriggan: 02 July 2019
Confirmation of address email: 03 September 2020 (Expedited due to pregnancy)
Date added to FBR: 03 September 2020
Congrats email: 14 September 2020
FBR certificate received: 18 September 2020
Passport application submitted/posted: 18 September 2020
Passport supporting documents received: 22 September 2020
Passport Posted: 30 September 2020
Passport received: 5 October 2020

My supporting documents were not posted back with my passport so I guess they'll arrive separately.

Nice to see the actual passport application going through quickly. Thanks so much to everyone for you moral support throughout these months. It has been extremely comforting to know what others were experiencing.
Wow, that turnaround time for the passport is pretty quick!

Supposedly FBR application accepted in mid February 2019 (via Paris Embassy) following 6 months of provision of additional/corrected documents ....
Not a peep since, efforts to contact result in advice, still in process
Anyone else in similar situation, 18 month and counting and barely any advice?
I applied for FBR in February 2019 through Irish Embassy in Nicosia, Cyprus. Still waiting, and saying the Rosary for success soon.
Good to know I am not on my own. But it is extremely frustrating. Hopefully one of us will hear something soon :D
Spoke to the Paris Embassy they received my documents in February 2019 however they only submitted the documents to Ireland for processing in 2020 (before COVID lock down). That means 1 year of lost time, I need to get the documents to be able to apply for residency in France under the Withdrawl Agreement this year. They have totally screwed me on this one...... Cannot get through DFAT web chat which is continuously down, where to direct complaints to? Any experience?

Can any one help me understand why some of the applicants for FBR submit their documents directly to Balbriggan and others to the Republic of Ireland Embassy in the country live in?

As I now understand the Republic of Ireland Embassy in Paris has held my documents for 12 months in advance to sending to Ireland so my 2018 application has not yet been acknowledged, whilst applications that submitted their documents to Balbriggan in the first half of 2019 are already receiving their FBR Certificates?

This is my process
Application submitted online: 21 Aug 2018 (additional/corrected documents submitted to Paris 3 times between Aug 2018 and Feb 2019, then no more requests, no confirmations)
Email acknowledging receipt of documents (Balbriggan): Pending
Confirmation of address email: Pending
Date added to FBR: Pending
Congrats email: Pending
FBR certificate received: Pending

It would be super helpful to understand, I have been online waiting for the FBR web chat for the past hours to get some answers.....

Got in touch with them again today and they said it's with the checker so hopefully won't be too much longer. No idea why it's taken this long to get to the checker. They said they only recently received the witness form but it arrived in Dublin over 9 weeks ago

Hi, I received the email acknowledging receipt of documents on 12 June 2019.
Then today I had an email asking to provide 2 proofs of address. Is everyone asked to do that? I'm presuming it's because it's been so long since the application was put in but just wanted to check that it's standard.

Congrats to everyone who's already been registered and good luck to those who are waiting!

With the web hat, I found it mostly says they are offline, but if you keep refreshing the screen, it does let you in, I think they only have a certain number of queue spaces, about 20, and once the queue is full, you get the grey button.

If you catch it as they finish with someone, you do get to enter the queue.

One thing I found, the hard way. . . Have your e-mail, app number and initial question ina document to copy and paste QUICKLY as soon as you get the active chat, the first few times I tried, by the time you have typed in a war and peace question, someone else has nabbed the space in the queue and you get the not available message.

It took me about an hour of waiting to get to the head of the queue, BUT, don’t be tempted to refresh the screen, if the position in the queue looks to be stuck!! I did this and it crashes you out, it is just a waiting game and the number does drop, in small and large increments . .

Good luck

Did you not include proofs of address in your application? That is a documentary requirement. I sent in a bank statement and a council tax bill with my application.

Yes, everyone is asked to do this and once you submit the proofs you should in a matter of days get your congratulations email.

Checking the status of my tracking number. An Post and USPS say my post was processed through Dublin Mail Centre on Oct 3rd. However, there have been no further updates posted since then. It's only a few days, but I thought registered mail was scanned at every step and had better tracking. Maybe it's still waiting in Dublin for a specific flight, or sitting in a US postal center. Do any US-based applicants on this forum recall a similar experience? :?

Same here. I assumed mine was very straightforward, I believe it is, other than the fact that I have two applications in (for my twins). All docs were in order, even did it when I was at home (I am Irish and grew up in Ireland but was born in the UK and lived there until I was 6 months old). Posted all the docs from Ireland, had them all vetted by An Garda Siochana etc etc.

I got onto the webchat the other day and was given the unhelpful answer of "well applications are taking 12 - 18 months, and yours is now 15 months so it could take up to another 3 months and we'll be in touch if we need anything". I do wonder what would cause it to be delayed beyond others' timelines.

Hi, I read a few suggestions on this forum (including yours) and am following the implicit advise - sending DOCs directly to Balbriggan rather than than to the Ireland's embassy for re-direction to FBR section (as the form itself stipulates).

Hey guys,

Long time lurker of this forum. It's been a great to follow the updates on where everything has been at with the FBR!
Just received the confirmation of address email :D I wasn't expecting it for another couple of months.
I've been looking forward to becoming Irish for so long!
Here is my timeline:
Application submitted online: 22 July 2019
Email acknowledging receipt of documents (Balbriggan): 08 August 2019
Confirmation of address email: 09 October 2020
Date added to FBR: Pending
Congrats email: Pending
FBR certificate received: Pending

Its a bit strange that there is still late May 2019 applicants that are waiting and so many people have been skipped. My only guess is that maybe the FBR team are working from home due to Covid-19 and they have taken a big stack of applications from the pile and I'm lucky enough that mine was close to the top of the stack.

Hi AntrimGrandchild,
Question for a US applicant (me too) - what did they request, exactly, in the confirmation of address email? Only that you confirm that the address on the application is still correct? Or did they request actual proof of address again? And if the latter, can you email it or have to submit by snail-mail? Thanks!

I mailed my application in late February and the documents arrived in early March according to USPS. I have not received an email acknowledging their receipt. However, the FAQs on the website indicate that no email will be sent for receipt of documents. So perhaps the policy has recently changed?

I am still trying to connect with webchat, every time I try the agents are busy.
I got through on webchat today - they confirmed that an email receipt would be sent when they entered the application into the system.

Yes, I received email from noreply@dfat.ie a day after the documents were confirmed as delivered by Royal Mail and An Post. That was around 5 weeks ago.

"Your application for Irish citizenship through entry on the Foreign Births Register has now been received.

Information in relation to current processing timelines can be found on our webpage www.dfa.ie/citizenship/born-abroad/regi ... ign-birth/

Please do not reply to this email as it is auto-generated."
Thanks MikeyMike! Hopefully I’ll receive mine soon.
I got through to webchat this morning. They confirmed my documents were received in March and resent the confirmation email. The representative stated that the estimated turn around time is 12 - 18 months, and that they are currently working on July 2019 applications.

Appears I was wrong about the tracking. I found this on the USPS site FAQ page:

"Can International Registered Mail be tracked?
Registered Mail service items cannot be tracked through the mailstream and will not provide updated scans."

It goes on to say that I can check the tracking number online, of course. But if there are no updated scans, I guess the status will remain "In-Transit" until it arrives. More patience...
