Number of days Tier 4 Dependants can stay abroad and current timelines

Hi

Is there any rule for the number of days dependants of a tier 4 student are allowed to live abroad due to circumstances beyond their control, in our case Covid.

What are the current timelines like? I submitted my application on Sep 22 for Tier 4 extension with dependants and haven't heard anything yet.
