Naturalisation comes first - Passport only once you are British.
Here is the official guidance: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... n-guidance
Applications are online from within the UK: https://visas-immigration.service.gov.u ... bkQAvD_BwE

Suggest you review the guidance first - if you have specific queries please post here in this thread.

We just need advice on making an application and the requirements for my hubby’s naturalisation

1- Hubby originally came to the UK in 2003 on a student visa and ended up overstaying, he finally went back voluntarily on the 3rd of September 2010

2- We got married in his country and then applied for his spouse visa. This was granted and so he returned back to the UK on 5th of October 2011. He done the IELTS English test as part of the process

3- We then applied for the ILR in October 2013 and this was granted as well. He done the LifeIn The UK Test as part of the process

Now I need advice on the following please

1 - When can we apply for his Naturalisation ( British Passport )

2 - Does my hubby need to do anymore English Test again as he hasn’t got a degree. He has done a 3 year Diploma in Electronics ( Technical Diploma ) in his birth country.
If so, which English test please.

3 - What other requirements are there and can someone please guide me through the process please

Also with COVID around, is it affecting applications in anyway

Thanking you all in advance for your time and help.

Have you reviewed the guidance document?
1 - When can we apply for his Naturalisation ( British Passport )
Now. Passport later.
2 - Does my hubby need to do anymore English Test again as he hasn’t got a degree. He has done a 3 year Diploma in Electronics ( Technical Diploma ) in his birth country.
If so, which English test please.
If he had to provide an English test for ILR then you can use that.
3 - What other requirements are there and can someone please guide me through the process please
Please review the guidance document - the application is straightforward.
Also with COVID around, is it affecting applications in anyway
Yes for obvious reasons - UKVI always quote a six month processing target, though it could be faster, or longer in some case. Suggest you monitor the forum - there are various threads on the subject.

He needs a new test if he applied for and got ilr before 28 October 2013. He needs English B1 from a test provider and test on the current ukvi approved list. His diploma is not sufficient either.

Thank you everyone for your help, he will be doing his test soon.
Also we will be submitting the application for British Citizenship next month, his indefinite leave expires in 2022 but his passport runs out early next year (Feb 2021)
Would this be a problem as I don’t know how long the application processing times for British citizenship are at the moment.
Would it be an issue if we don’t hear back about Citizenship application before his passport expires even though he has indefinite leave till 2022.

Again thank you everyone for your help.

Although a BRP may expire, ILR doesn’t, similar to citizenship doesn’t expire when a passport expires.

Thank you Vinny
What does BRP mean...sorry I don’t know
So we can still submit the application next month as his ILR is still valid.....even though his home country passport may run out during processing time after we submit the application

Thank you
Also for the English test we have opted for the IELTS life skills B1 test....is stated it only has listening and speaking modules in the test, is that enough as it doesn’t have reading or writing modules

B1 is the test to take, 10 minutes listening/speaking only, no reading/writing exercises.

Also make sure he was physically present in UK at the start of the qualifying period. If you apply today, he should be physically present in UK on 29/12/2017 etc.
