Tier 4 - Graduate visa

Post by A2020uk » Mon Oct 19, 2020 2:08 pm

Hi all,

I’m writing to check if anyone knows if you are on a tier 4 visa and haven’t completed the course but have completed the previous course in the uk (masters) come June 2021 , when the graduate visa will be open? Will this person who is on tier 4 visa be eligible based on previous qualification graduate date sept 2021 but classes ended in sept 2020 and visa expires in January 2021, so based on this can take a decision if extending in tier 4 is effective?

please can somebody help, I’m writing this on behalf of a friend.

Thanks

No. Your friend needs to be in the UK with a Tier 4 or Student visa when the route opens for applications in "summer 2021", exact date TBC.

You can refer your friend to the Home Office's factsheet about the Graduate Route:

Thanks for replying. He will be in the country if the Tier 4 is extended, my question is does it matter if the completed course was on a previous visa ?

Their Tier 4 visa could only be extended for a new course, not to wait 9 months for the graduation ceremony.

The fine detail of the Graduate Route has not been announced yet, and unlikely to be before next summer, but from what has been published so far your friend seems highly unlikely to qualify.
