Self employed spouse visa applicant

Post by bigben1982 » Sat Oct 31, 2020 9:54 am

Hi forum experts,
Hope you all are keeping safe.
I would like to ask you couple of questions please.

1. My wife would like to start working as a self employed(working from home). She will be making around £6500/year.She is due for her spouse visa extension next year.
Is it allowed being self employed on spouse visa?

2. I am the sponsor(husband). When she goes for extension, my permanent job salary will be £37000 excluding overtime pay.
Will she needs to show any of her self employed proof as supporting documents with her application to UKBA?

Please kindly let me know.Thank you.

Is it allowed being self employed on spouse visa? Yes, spouse visa gives the right to work and this includes being self employed

2. I am the sponsor(husband). When she goes for extension, my permanent job salary will be £37000 excluding overtime pay.
Will she needs to show any of her self employed proof as supporting documents with her application to UKBA? No, since your own income appears to be more than sufficient to meet the requirements, she does not have to show any of her income as part of financial evidence for her FLR(M).

Please kindly let me know.Thank you.

Yes assuming by that point you would have worked for at least 6 months with the present employer or have earned at least £18600 during the last 12 months. In either case, your sole income would meet the criteria.

Sorry for the late reply.
Thank you @seagul and @Amazonianx for your advice.
I have been working with the current employer since January 2018,permanent position.
I will get final salary increment in April 2021 to reach 37k.
Her visa expires in 22.10.2021.
When she can apply for extension? Please kindly let me know.

An extension can be applied at anytime time but to avoid the shortfall it should ideally be applied after 30 months minus 28 days from arriving until expiry. But an income of 37K is more than needed.
