* - on 2 November I called HMPO advice helpline asking for my supporting documents to be returned to me urgently as I needed them to prove my identity. They emailed HMPO Glasgow and scheduled a call with me the following day. Incidentally, they told me that my documents and case got forwarded from HMPO Newport to HMPO Glasgow. Their reasoning was apparently the circuit breaker lockdown in Wales...
On 3 November a case worker from HMPO Glasgow called and notified me that my application just got approved anyway so they would dispatch both my supporting documents and the passport shortly. The supporting documents were supposed to be delivered on 5 November according to HMPO Glasgow and TNT tracking (to track on TNT website, I used the PEX number but without without any spaces and without the "PEX" part - just the digits), but alas the driver ran out of time for the day and it got delayed until Monday. In the end, my passport ended up getting delivered sooner than the supporting documents...

Note: Last Wednesday 11/11 it had been 3 weeks since my application was processing so I decided to use the Webchat function to talk to someone at HM Passport Office. They told me my passport officer sent mail to where my counter signatory works on 2/11 and they're waiting for a response. I got in touch with my counter signatory and she told me she's working from home so she hadn't received that. Long story short my passport officer called her on Friday and sent her an email. She responded and my application was approved today. I can't tell they contacted my counter signatory because she's Irish or because I used the paper form, but oh well. Thank god I enquired before the 6 weeks they quote as normal processing time for first time applicants otherwise this would have gone nowhere. Hopefully my passport arrives this week or next.
