Waiting for Passport!

Post by kampk121 » Thu Oct 22, 2020 11:11 pm

Hi,
I applied for the British passport for my 2 kids age 4 and 5 on 4th October.
1st application Went to HMPO Petersborough and have received the Passport today.

2nd child’s application went to HMPO Durham
And the application is in process since 8th October.
And still waiting for the approval.

Both cases are identical, but 1 application approved quick and second still pending.

My question is ,

Do I need to contact the HMPO Durham?
And what is there contact number?

Any reply will be really appreciated.

Many thanks

Contact HMPO: https://www.gov.uk/passport-advice-line
You can't contact individual HMPO processing centres.

Thank you my friend. I did call them today and the operator told me that it shouldn’t be much longer now. And If I don’t hear anything next week I should call them.

My application for the first British passport after naturalisation has been approved on the 14th October 2020. Looking at the British Passport processing timeline, 99% of the people have had their passport sent to them the next day or after the weekend. Do you think I should be worried that they've lost my documents? :(
I Did call HMPO today and they told me, my application is still in the examination. I think is no true cos I received information: Application approved on 14 October 2020.

I called today again, and was told to wait, it’s in process.

It’s been over 3 weeks now.

What should I do now? Is there any email address i could complain? Oe should I just wait more?

Any guidance will be really appreciated.

Lockdown in England since Monday. I am afraid we will wait a few months for the passports :(

Hi all,

Here we are again, waiting now for another process to be completed, what a journey! :)

I applied in the beginning of October for my first time-passport and after almost a month I decided to call the HMPO.

The officer told me that one week after the application started to be processed, the officer recording my application decided that I had to go through an interview. The person I talked to could not really say why have they not contacted me yet for an interview.
How long can get this delayed? I am thinking about the new lockdown. Can this delay everything?

If yes, I don’t like that my original passport and my nationality certificate will be waiting for the officer to book an interview.
Thoughts?

Is your case already over?
Despite the fact that my application was approved, four weeks after approval, I received a call that I would have an online interview next week for identification.
I was hoping that the application for a passport would be processed without any problems. Unfortunately, it happened as usual.

Hi,

It’s been Over 7 weeks since my child passport application is in process. Every time I contact them they say it’s in final stages. But I’m keep waiting. Looking at the passport application processing time line, the average time is 3_4 weeks. I’m bit worried now.

Is it normal to take that long? While my other child who applied at the same time had his passport in 2 weeks time. And both are identical case. Hence one is pending since 7 weeks.

Any suggestions or help will be really appreciated.

Is there any where I could complaint? If yes then which email address?

Many Thanks

I think the problem is in HMPO Durham.

Not good news if problem is with HMPO Durham because they are handling my application as well. It seem (after looking at passport timeline thread) that HMPO durham is not dealing with many applications

That’s a very interesting topic.

Can someone clarify to me how the system is choosing where your application goes to?
Will it be the nearest one or is it random?
If we get Durham is there a chance to request a different one? I don’t want to go without my only ID for several weeks.

I expect the HMPO system assigns to the processing centres according to workload (in the absence of any HMPO explanation) - there's no option to select which office you prefer. The office in Durham is open to the public however I guess if you are online they won't deal with you directly over the counter.

I got my overseas application approved on 17.11 (passport printed and sent too, per website status) and my passport still hasn't been delivered. The most interesting thing is that I can see my details here https://delivery.tnt.com/tracking/ - which is used for deliveries within the UK. I'm wondering when DHL will finally collect and deliver my passport.

Did you try to contact them? Maybe they want to conduct an interview?

I see, that’s good. Then I’m sure that it will be approved this week (I’m also waiting at Newport).

Durham seems to have a bad reputation considering all refusal/ holding it for interviews applicant out there  and I live in the south of England and was told to send documents to HMPO Durham so it's not the nearest ones which you get. I have sent my original passport and naturalization certificate which has been delivered early morning but still, they have not updated about receiving it when you track it

Thank you for letting me know.

I have seen lately a lot of posts in general about refusal of referee and them to start a lot of Skype interviews again. That’s also concerning.

Also that the certificate is sent back creased and bend which isn’t nice.
I’m thinking to include a cover letter and another A4 envelope and ask them not to bend the certificate when I send off everything in a few days.

i have contacted them via chat:

Upon looking at your application, I can confirm that it is currently undergoing standard examination checks. As this is a first British passport you are applying for, these checks can take time to complete. If the office require any further information then you will be contacted directly.

this all process is just terrible experience
settled status been waiting 6 months
naturalization 11 months
and now passport over a month and still waiting,

Finally received a text saying application is approved and passport is being printed and sent.

Wrote a complaint by filling out the form,

Big Thanks to STEFAN PIATEK, who provided me with the link.

Happy days.

Good luck to all.
